5 Small Touches To Make Your Guest Room Feel Like a Hotel

When you have friends or family staying over, you want them to be comfortable in your guest room. Rather than just throwing some blankets on the bed and putting some towels in the bathroom, take the extra time to make your guest room comfortable and inviting. Using little extra touches will make your guests feel like they’re staying in a five-star hotel.

Gift on the Pillow
One of the nicest little things you can do to make your guests feel welcome is to leave a small gift on your guest bed. You can leave small chocolates on the pillows or, if you have the skill or desire to learn, you can fold towels into different animal shapes. This shows that you are happy to have them stay with you. Your guests will appreciate the thought and time it took you to make them feel welcome.

Bathroom Necessities

Most people don’t enjoy snooping through someone else’s home, so be sure to leave extra bathroom necessities where they are easily visible. If you have some extra trial size bottles of shampoo, toothpaste, and a bar of soap, put them in a basket in the bathroom. Leave an extra roll of toilet paper on the vanity or a shelf so your guest doesn’t have to go searching for one. Always make sure you leave clean, neatly folded or hung towels for your guests.

Late Night Snacks

Most guests, unless they’re close family, won’t feel comfortable rummaging through your fridge if they get hungry at night. Leave some fruit or snacks in a basket in the guest room. If you know their favorite snack, put that in the room. They’ll be grateful you personalized the guest room for them and it goes a long way in making them feel welcome and comfortable. If you have a mini fridge leftover from when your kids were at college, put it in the guest room and stock it with water. You can also put some yogurt or chocolate in there.

Wi-fi Password
If your home has password-protected wireless internet, write or type the password on a nice piece of stationery and leave it on the bed or the nightstand so guests don’t have to ask you for it (and so you don’t have to scramble to find it). You can also put the password stationery in a nice picture frame on the nightstand if you have an extra one that goes with the decor of your guest room.

Nightstand Necessities
You should always have an alarm clock on the nightstand in your guest bedroom. You can also turn one of the nightstand drawers into a charging station with an easy-to-reach power strip so your guests don’t have to get on the floor and blindly try to plug their phone or laptop in. Having a little notebook and pen either on the nightstand or in a drawer is a great little extra touch for your guest room to make it feel more like a hotel.
