The World needs more Chaos and Geometry

Geometric prints are hot these days. You can achieve a great effect by combining two prints in the same colorway, for example on the throw pillows and the rug. Geometric patterns of different scales will introduce visual depth in your room. Exploit the trend of oversized floral print wallpapers. The additional elements like branches or twigs will add to the drama. An accent wall that stands out against the wallpapered room, will make the prints stand out even more. You can also explore other prints, as long they are bold and unexpected.

Another bold approach is to dress the entire room primarily in black or neutral colors and then give it a splash of vibrant red or purple. You can use throw pillows of the same texture but different colorations. Those featuring the loud, colorful print will pop up amongst the neutral ones. The same can be applied for the ottomans or even drapes. When combined with framed word art a single brightly colored pillow in an oversized print will deliver an interesting punch among the remaining white pillows.

Energy-Filled Living Room Ideas

Shake the living room foundations lining a striped rug in wavy rainbow hues against the modern black and white furnishings. Colorful pieces of wall art create high voltage spots while fractal wallpaper prints introduce the new dimension of the contemporary. In a slightly different setting, Interior designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd advocates using hot hues of orange, magenta and lime green against subtle neutral shades and animal prints, achieving a perfect balance, instead of a headache.

Break the Neutrality – Prepare for Color Attack

In avoid falling into the neutral trap of kitchen décor, make your stand out by introducing buzzing neon hues. What do you say about lime green oven windows and magenta cabinet accents? If you want an alternative, keep the neutral furnishings and focus on dining chairs. Pick up a contemporary style and choose them all in different colors. The same strategy can be applied for the lounge. Break up the calming effect of natural stone tiles and the huge TV screen with an oversized couch upholstered with many colorful tiles. You can do the same thing in the bathroom, replacing the boring white tub with one with colorful vertical stripes.
